Connectors and Spacers for Industrial Chains

Drive chains are normally supplied with open ends. To connect these ends properly, chain connectors are used; these are available in various types depending on installation requirements and strength needs. 

Spring-clip and split-pin fasteners allow for quick assembly and disassembly, making them ideal for frequent maintenance. In contrast, riveted fasteners provide an extremely strong and permanent connection, but must be installed in the factory or with specialized equipment.

When the number of links in an open-end chain is odd, a filler link must be used. This component consists of two special plates secured with a pin and a roller; the wider part of the link is mounted on the end of the chain and secured with a split pin.

It is important to pay special attention to the use of counterfeit links or clip-on or split-pin connections, as they can significantly reduce the chain’s breaking load and, consequently, its operational reliability.
