The remote I/O modules of the iR series by Weintek are expansions for communication modules (CAN and Ethernet as well as ModBus) which, connected to the cMT series panels, form a PLC system with decentralized peripherals, programmable with the CODESYS development tool compliant with the IEC61131-3 standard.
Thanks to the dual-core hardware architecture of the cMT terminals, the HMI and PLC functions are independent, ensuring maximum computational performance for any process, with an instruction time (LD) of just 10ns, on par with the best mid/high-range PLCs.
The integrated HMI+PLC offering is completed by a range of remote I/O modules, designed and built by Weintek, operating with CAN or Ethernet connection and available in various configurations.
The cMT-iR family of remote I/O has been developed by Weintek to perfectly integrate with the cMT-3000 HMI family but can also be used with any compatible third-party PLC/controller that supports Ethernet Modbus TCP, CANopen, and EtherCAT communication systems. These remote I/Os are characterized by excellent speed performance in cycle time (less than 1ms for some digital modules) due to their use of a proprietary internal bus called I-BUS.
Another key feature of the cMT-iR modules is the wide range available and the specific characteristics of individual modules. The analog and temperature modules, for instance, are fully configurable, and the signal scaling can be defined directly within the module, thus eliminating PLC-level management. Additionally, an adjustable filter ensures better accuracy even in the presence of disturbances. The conversion time for a cMT-iR analog module is only 2ms and can drop to 50us when using a single channel.
