THK’s recirculating ball screws offer an innovative solution for linear systems, in which the balls housed within the grooved sleeve transmit torque as they move along precision-ground raceways. Unlike traditional solutions, a single sleeve can also be preloaded, ensuring greater rigidity and operational stability.
This technology ensures high performance even in environments subject to vibrations and shocks, particularly when a high degree of positioning accuracy or high-speed movements are required.
Compared to a conventional linear sleeve, a THK splined shaft offers up to 10 times the load capacity for the same diameter, enabling a more compact design and making it ideal for applications involving radial and/or moment loads.
Thanks to ball recirculation technology, these components offer fast, quiet motion with no angular play.
Lobed shafts with ball recirculation
TheseTHK splined shafts are designed to ensure high torque transmission thanks to the splines along their circumference. The recirculating ball bearing system ensures fast, smooth, and quiet motion, even at high speeds, making them ideal for industrial applications that require precision and reliability.
The lobed splined shaft has no angular play: the preload of the balls between the splined nut and the shaft provides high structural rigidity. The unique configuration features three ribs spaced 120° apart, each supported by two rows of balls, for a total of six rows under load, enhancing precision and stability.
The LBS model is the high-torque version, ideal for industrial applications where maximum reliability and torsional strength are required.
Lobed shafts with ball recirculation
Splined shafts featuring THK’s recirculating ball technology, an advanced solution that stands out for its ease of machining and availability in flanged or cylindrical versions. The recirculating ball system ensures fast, smooth, and quiet motion, even at high speeds, guaranteeing precision and operational continuity.
Splined shafts are available with four or six rows of balls, which engage with four or six raceways, respectively, depending on the model. The arrangement angle of the balls, the circular arcs with a radius close to that of the balls, and the applicable preload eliminate angular play during rotation and increase the system’s rigidity. These components are characterized byhigh radial load capacity andexcellent torque transmission, making them ideal for demanding industrial applications.
The LT model is the mid-torque version, designed to combine high performance with versatility.
Lobed shafts with ball recirculation
This model is designed to keep the shaft stationary while allowing the worm gear to rotate. The worm gear incorporates a bearing that allows the flanged outer section to rotate relative to the stationary inner section, which performs the translational movement.
This is an ideal solution when the grooved bar must operate at high speeds or over significant distances, since in these cases the grooved bar may remain stationary or move at very low speeds.
The LTR model is a compact rotary drive unit equipped with support bearings integrated directly into the outer surface of the grooved worm gear, ensuring reliability, rigidity, and ease of installation.
