Connecting & offset links

Connectors and Link Extenders for Industrial Chains

Drive chains are typically supplied with open ends. To properly connect these ends, connectors are used; these are available in various types depending on installation requirements and strength needs. 

Spring-loaded clip fasteners and split-pin fasteners allow for quick assembly and disassembly, making them ideal for frequent maintenance. In contrast, riveted joints provide an extremely strong and permanent connection, but must be installed in a factory or using specialized equipment.

When the number of links in an open-end chain is odd, a connecting link must be used. This component consists of two special plates connected by a pin and a roller; the wider part of the link is fitted onto the end of the chain and secured with a split pin.

It is important to pay special attention to the use of counterfeit links or clip-on or split-pin connections, as they can significantly reduce the chain’s breaking load and, consequently, its operational reliability.
