Which tube to use for compressed air: polyurethane or nylon?
The choice between a polyurethane (PU) tube and a nylon (polyamide) tube depends on the characteristics of the pneumatic system.
- Polyurethane tube: it is flexible and resistant to bending. It is particularly suitable for connections at the machine and applications with moving parts.
- Nylon tube: it is generally stiffer and, depending on the model, can withstand higher operating pressures and temperatures. It is especially suited for fixed pneumatic lines.
In both cases, it is important to check the operating pressure, temperature, minimum bend radius, and compatibility with the working environment.
For quick-connect fittings, the outside diameter of the tube must match the size specified by the fitting.
