These components enable the conversion of rotary motion into linear motion or the transmission of torque while maintaining the possibility of axial sliding. They are used in various industrial automation and mechanical handling applications.
What is a splined shaft and what is it used for?
The splined shaft has a series of longitudinal grooves on its surface that couple with a hub or a bushing with the corresponding profile. It allows for the transmission of torque while simultaneously enabling the hub to slide along the shaft. In the ball recirculation version, such as THK shafts, the sliding occurs on balls: it is very smooth and precise and allows for the realization of combined movements of rotation and translation, for example in robots and assembly machines.
