Configuration of INVT series GD20-EU Variable Frequency Drive (VFD)

Configuration of INVT series GD20-EU Variable Frequency Drive (VFD)

INVT is a large industrial group, manufacturer of inverters and brushless drives, the GD20-EU series includes small vector inverters for general use with an extensive range, up to 110KW.

The presence of the integrated EMC filter from 4kW (plug-in option for sizes up to 2.2kW), the standard braking chopper, up to a power of 37kW included makes it one of the most complete inverters.

Parameter Settings

On this page, we provide only the immediate indications for setting the parameters; for complete information, please refer to the user manual. The inverter is standard equipped with a keyboard with a display for access to all configuration parameters; an optional remote keyboard is also available that includes the parameter copy function.

INVT GD20 inverter configuration

Below are the steps to program the parameters from the keypad:

0    Main menu.

1    Group display: Pressing the [PRG/ESC] key displays the group on the screen.

2    Group selection: Use the [Up] and [Dw] keys to select the group. Pressing the [PRG/ESC] key returns to the main menu (Step 0).

3    Parameter display: Pressing the [DATA/ENT] key shows the group and the parameter on the display.

4    Parameter selection: Use the [Up] and [Dw] keys to select the parameter. Pressing the [PRG/ESC] key returns to the group selection (Step 2).

5    Parameter value: Pressing the [DATA/ENT] key displays the parameter value on the screen.

6    Parameter setting: If the value is flashing, use the [Up] and [Dw] keys to set it. Pressing the [PRG/ESC] key returns to parameter selection (Step 4) without changing the value.

7    Value storage: Pressing the [DATA/ENT] key permanently stores the defined value, returning to parameter selection (Step 4).

Below is a table with all the parameters of the Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) grouped, with the default value indicated for each parameter.

To set all parameters of the Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) to default, set P00.18=1.

Parameter Transfer

Once the parameterization of the Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) is completed using the external keyboard with parameter copy function, parameters can be transferred from one Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) to another.

  • Connect the keyboard to the Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) from which to read parameters; the connection can be made with the system powered on.
  • Set P07.01=1; the display shows -UP- blinking, and all parameters of the Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) are transferred to the keyboard.
  • Connect the keyboard to the Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) to which to transfer the parameters; the connection can be made with the system powered on.
  • Set P07.01=2; the display blinks -dn1-, and all parameters are transferred to the Variable Frequency Drive (VFD).
  • Set P07.01=3; the display blinks -dn2-, and all parameters excluding motor parameters P02 and P12 are transferred to the Variable Frequency Drive (VFD).
  • Set P07.01=4; the display blinks -dn3-, and only motor parameters P02 and P12 are transferred to the Variable Frequency Drive (VFD).

INVT Studio Program

Much more practical than the keyboard for setting and transferring parameters is the INVT Studio program, downloadable from our site. It connects to the Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) with a serial RS485 connection; if you do not have this interface on your PC, you can use the USB-RS485 converter ATC-820. The program allows reading, modifying, and saving parameter values of the Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) to disk.

To run the program, create a new project, define the type of Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) to which you are connecting (GD20-EU), the Modbus node (Parameter P14.00, default 1), and the communication parameters (Parameters P14.01 and P14.02, default 19200, and, 8, 1). After establishing the connection, all parameters will be displayed, and by selecting the relevant parameter, it will be possible to modify the value. The modified value becomes permanent in the Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) that stores it.
